This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Ashley Burns who was born in Massachusetts on May 16, 1991 and passed away on August 09, 2005 at the age of 14. We will remember her forever.
This site was made by my friend Cindy Valentine's Daughter, Kali Welch. And I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Ruth Burns Ashley's Mom Forever!
Ashley was born May 16 1991 at Malden Hospital. She was the best baby in the world, barely cried and smiled every time she woke up. When she was 2, I bought her a Harley 3 wheeler for kids and she loved it. We lived in Malden at that time on Bryant St., and would take it down the tracks for a ride when it was nice out. She also loved planting sunflowers in the yard with my landlord Pat McMahon, who recently passed away god rest her sole. She contacted me after Ashley passed away and I went to visit her about a week before she died. I know she will watch over Ashley up there for me. Her father wasn't around much and you can read all about him in the parents section. In 1994 we moved to Riverside Ave., in Medford because my mom wanted us to have a house with a yard instead of living in a 3rd floor apartment. She loved having her own yard and playing in it. I bought her a pink Barbie corvette when we moved here and she drove that all over the yard as well. Before Ashley became a cheerleader she took karate classes for a year at MHS, was a figure skater and even had private lessons. Then she was a mascot for the Pope John High School Cheerleaders and went to gymnastics classes with them. Then she joined Pop Warner the Medford Colts. She was always a flier and by the time High School came around she could fly on both legs. Pop Warner has you fly on the opposite leg and All star gyms as well as HS fly on the other leg. I never expected her to be a cheerleader, probably because I wasn't one, EVER. She loved it and that's all that mattered, whatever made her happy as long as it wasn't dangerous to her health and I never thought in a million years she would die doing it. I never expected her to die before me anyway. I was hoping to see her grow up to be a woman not just a teenager. She wanted to go to college that's why she was going to attend the HIGH SCHOOL NOT THE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL, like the papers say, have no idea where they get their info but it is wrong. She wanted to be an SVU detective like Olivia Benson on Law and Order which was her favorite show and watched every chance she got. Her favorite colors were light pink and baby blue and she loved those Brazilian jeans they came out with. I wasn't crazy about how low cut they are but she always had her shirt covering skin and never looked trampy always classy. She loved doing her hair, talking on the phone and before she started listening to 94.5 her favorite songs were Mother by Danzig which she played over and over again and Master of puppets by Metallica. Even though she got into dance music and some rap she still enjoyed my music, rock and metal. We had tickets for System of a Down's concert before she died and we never got to go because she died so I gave them to a lifelong friend of her's which is Cameron because I knew if I went I would just cry through the whole thing and I knew she would have wanted me to give them to him anyway. Ashley also loved animals we have had everything from reptiles to dogs, and her ashes are also with her 2 dogs too. Ashes which is something she would have wanted me to do. I am glad we were so close because I know that everything I have done and am doing is what she would ant but it still doesn't make up for the fact she is gone and how much I miss her. I cry, scream, and try to function everyday and it isn't easy and it gets harder not easier for me at least. I am sure there will be more that I will write and even revise it from time to time but I am going to end here because I can barely see from crying, talking about her makes me very upset because I miss her so much.
